I recently listened to a podcast that interviewed Larry King. I was fascinated by the amount of curiosity, interest and eagerness to learn that Larry described bringing to his interviews in his 60-year career.

I think this is a great mindset for one to bring into their meditation practice, especially when working with difficult experiences.

Next time you meditate, interview your emotions. If sadness arises, let her be your guest, and see what you can learn about her.

Not only will this create some space between you and the experience, but it will also help you become more friendly toward the aspects of yourself that you’re fighting. And in the end, the less we can fight our experience, even sadness, the less likely we are to suffer and the more likely that experience is to transform into something else.
