The questions you ask yourself create the running narrative in your mind.

For instance, if after spending too much time in a bad relationship, you say to yourself, “why am I such an idiot?”, then you’re going to get a series of answers to that question, and chances are they won’t serve you much or make you feel very good.

However, if you ask the question, “what can I learn from this experience and how might it help me grow?” then you’ll get an entirely different set of answers that will not only make you feel better, but will also lead to greater learning, self-awareness and growth.

Pay careful attention to the questions you ask yourself. They become the foundation for how this moment morphs into the next.
